No entanto, apesar da crescente procura de profissionais STEM, as mulheres continuam a estar significativamente sub-representadas. A diferen\u00e7a de g\u00e9nero nas STEM n\u00e3o \u00e9 apenas uma quest\u00e3o de diversidade no local de trabalho &#8211; afeta o crescimento econ\u00f3mico, o avan\u00e7o tecnol\u00f3gico e o desenvolvimento da sociedade.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Os N\u00fameros Falam &#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>De acordo com a UNESCO (2023), as mulheres representam apenas 28% da for\u00e7a de trabalho STEM a n\u00edvel mundial. A situa\u00e7\u00e3o \u00e9 ainda mais acentuada em dom\u00ednios como a engenharia e as ci\u00eancias inform\u00e1ticas, onde a participa\u00e7\u00e3o feminina desce para 16% e 18%, respetivamente. Um relat\u00f3rio do F\u00f3rum Econ\u00f3mico Mundial (2023) revelou que apenas 22% dos profissionais de IA em todo o mundo s\u00e3o mulheres.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8220;A falta de representa\u00e7\u00e3o feminina nas \u00e1reas STEM n\u00e3o se deve a uma falta de talento, mas sim ao resultado de barreiras sist\u00e9micas que desencorajam as mulheres de seguirem e prosperarem nestas carreiras,&#8221;<\/strong> afirma a Dra. Maria Klawe, uma reputada cientista inform\u00e1tica e defensora das mulheres na tecnologia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Barreiras que Impedem a Participa\u00e7\u00e3o das Mulheres nas \u00c1reas STEM &#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>V\u00e1rios obst\u00e1culos fundamentais impedem a entrada e o sucesso das mulheres nos dom\u00ednios STEM:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Estere\u00f3tipos de g\u00e9nero e preconceitos culturais &#8211; Desde muito cedo, as raparigas s\u00e3o frequentemente desencorajadas a seguir disciplinas STEM devido \u00e0s expectativas da sociedade. Estudos indicam que, aos seis anos de idade, as raparigas t\u00eam menos probabilidades de se considerarem \u201cmuito, muito inteligentes\u201d do que os rapazes (Science, 2017).<\/li>\n<li>Falta de modelos femininos &#8211; A sub-representa\u00e7\u00e3o das mulheres em cargos de lideran\u00e7a STEM cria um ciclo em que as raparigas t\u00eam dificuldade em imaginar-se nestas carreiras.<\/li>\n<li>Preconceito de g\u00e9nero na contrata\u00e7\u00e3o e promo\u00e7\u00e3o &#8211; As mulheres em STEM enfrentam desafios na progress\u00e3o na carreira, com estudos que mostram que as mulheres cientistas recebem menos financiamento e menos promo\u00e7\u00f5es do que os seus hom\u00f3logos masculinos (Harvard Business Review, 2022).<\/li>\n<li>Ambientes de trabalho hostis &#8211; Muitas mulheres em STEM relatam ter sofrido discrimina\u00e7\u00e3o no local de trabalho, incluindo disparidades salariais e exclus\u00e3o de projetos cr\u00edticos.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>&#8211; As Consequ\u00eancias da Disparidade de G\u00e9nero nas STEM &#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&#8211; A inova\u00e7\u00e3o sofre quando faltam perspetivas diversas. Os estudos mostram que as equipas com diversidade de g\u00e9nero produzem solu\u00e7\u00f5es mais inovadoras (McKinsey, 2023).<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Preconceitos na tecnologia e na investiga\u00e7\u00e3o &#8211; A falta de participa\u00e7\u00e3o feminina na IA, nos cuidados de sa\u00fade e na engenharia levou ao desenvolvimento de algoritmos tendenciosos e a lacunas na investiga\u00e7\u00e3o m\u00e9dica que afetam desproporcionadamente as mulheres.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Perdas econ\u00f3micas &#8211; Eliminar a disparidade de g\u00e9nero nas \u00e1reas STEM poderia acrescentar 12 bili\u00f5es de d\u00f3lares ao PIB mundial at\u00e9 2030 (Banco Mundial, 2023).<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Mulheres na Vanguarda das STEM &#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Apesar destes desafios, muitas mulheres est\u00e3o a dar contributos inovadores em STEM:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Dra. Jennifer Doudna &#8211; Co-criadora da tecnologia de edi\u00e7\u00e3o de genes CRISPR, revolucionando a gen\u00e9tica e a medicina.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Dra. Fei-Fei Li &#8211; Investigadora de IA que defende a \u00e9tica da IA e a diversidade na tecnologia.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Dra. Katie Bouman &#8211; Desempenhou um papel fundamental na captura da primeira imagem de sempre de um buraco negro.<\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Colmatar a Disparidade de G\u00e9nero: Solu\u00e7\u00f5es e Melhores Pr\u00e1ticas &#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Abordar a disparidade de g\u00e9nero em STEM requer esfor\u00e7os coordenados de institui\u00e7\u00f5es educativas, empresas e decisores pol\u00edticos. Eis as principais estrat\u00e9gias:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Educa\u00e7\u00e3o STEM precoce para raparigas &#8211; Iniciativas como Girls Who Code e STEMinist s\u00e3o cruciais para despertar o interesse pelas carreiras STEM desde tenra idade.<\/li>\n<li>Oportunidades de mentoria e de trabalho em rede &#8211; A cria\u00e7\u00e3o de programas de mentoria pode ajudar as mulheres a orientarem-se nas carreiras STEM e nos cargos de lideran\u00e7a.<\/li>\n<li>Pol\u00edticas de inclus\u00e3o corporativa &#8211; As empresas devem comprometer-se com contrata\u00e7\u00f5es justas, sal\u00e1rios iguais e culturas inclusivas no local de trabalho.<\/li>\n<li>Aumento do financiamento para as mulheres em STEM &#8211; Os governos e os investidores privados devem atribuir mais recursos para apoiar projetos e empresas em fase de arranque STEM liderados por mulheres.<\/li>\n<li>Combater os preconceitos nos dom\u00ednios STEM &#8211; S\u00e3o necess\u00e1rias auditorias regulares e verifica\u00e7\u00f5es de preconceitos no desenvolvimento da IA, nas pr\u00e1ticas de contrata\u00e7\u00e3o e na atribui\u00e7\u00e3o de financiamento \u00e0 investiga\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>&#8211; Conclus\u00e3o: Um Futuro de Igualdade de Oportunidades &#8211;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>O futuro das STEM tem de ser inclusivo. A participa\u00e7\u00e3o das mulheres n\u00e3o \u00e9 apenas uma quest\u00e3o de justi\u00e7a &#8211; \u00e9 essencial para a inova\u00e7\u00e3o, o crescimento econ\u00f3mico e o progresso da sociedade. Como salienta o Dr. Fei-Fei Li, <strong>\u201cas STEM est\u00e3o a moldar o nosso futuro.
